Hi, I’m David Onvlee. I recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Automotive Engineering from HAN University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands.
Motorsport is my biggest passion. I’m fascinated not just by the speed and competition, but by how teams operate at the very edge of what’s technically possible and still find ways to push performance further. Understanding how small engineering improvements can translate into measurable gains on the track is what excites me, and it’s a mindset I bring into every project I work on.
During my studies, I focused on turning data and analysis into practical results. I built a strong foundation in vehicle technology, electronics, and data-driven engineering. I enjoy applying that knowledge to real-world challenges, improving performance, reliability, and efficiency wherever possible.
Outside of engineering, I enjoy getting hands-on with my 2009 Scirocco and riding motorcycles. I do all the maintenance of my vehicles myself. I love working on projects that challenge me to learn something new. For example, I’ve helped replace an entire engine in my brother’s car. I find I learn best by doing, exploring firsthand how mechanical and electronic systems interact rather than just reading about them.
Besides that, I love traveling and experiencing new cultures. I spent six months living in Curaçao for my minor, which was an amazing experience both personally and academically. It pushed me out of my comfort zone, exposed me to different ways of thinking, and gave me the chance to work on real-world projects in a completely new environment. Traveling in general keeps me curious, open-minded, and adaptable.
Sports are another important part of my life. I regularly train in the gym and practice fitness routines that challenge both my strength and endurance. Being active helps me stay disciplined, focused, and constantly strive for improvement, not just physically but also mentally.
Combining these passions helps me stay balanced, energized, and ready to take on complex challenges creatively. Whether I’m working on a car, riding a motorcycle, exploring a new country, or training in the gym, I bring the same curiosity, attention to detail, and drive to continuously improve that define me as an engineer.
